ACORD maintains relationships with insurance regulators and industry associations worldwide. For the United States and its territories, ACORD works with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) and the specific state or territorial insurance regulators who approve ACORD forms.
ACORD is also an interested party to the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and continues to develop standardized ways for both US and global regulators to view insurance data. In addition, ACORD coordinates with the various insurance trade associations to promote the efficiencies of standardized data and forms.
ACORD’s dedicated regulatory compliance team monitors laws and regulations applicable to ACORD forms and is committed to keeping its standardized forms up to date and compliant. As a licensed Advisory Services Organization or Rate Services Organization, ACORD files required forms on behalf of its members who grant filing authorizations. ACORD works closely with the Departments of Insurance to obtain necessary filing approvals before those forms are made available to the industry.
