P&C Data Standards


P&C Standards Overview

Property & Casualty Standards are available in two formats: AL3 and XML. AL3 is designed as a one-way, batch communication method for policy and commission data. AL3 Standards are available in an Access database, with a data dictionary and supporting documentation.

XML is constructed to support real-time requirements for business transactions via request and response messages. The XML standards are available in a fully indexed and searchable format. The main release components are:

  • Help File: Documentation for the XML Business Message Specification, also available in online format.
  • Support Files: Contains the XML Metadata file.
  • Schema Files: XML schemas used to validate an XML document.

P&C XML Standards Online Help

ACORD members with access to the P&C XML Standards may access an online version of the P&C XML Business Message Specification Help File on our site. You may utilize this instead of maintaining the Help File (.chm) on your local drive.

P&C XML Utilities (Schema Tools)

ACORD has developed utilities that can be used against the schema (.xsd) files to help with implementation. If you have any questions about using the tools, please submit a service request on the ACORD Service Desk.

 


AL3 Standards Specifications & Documentation

Please note: Use of the ACORD AL3 Standard is governed by the ACORD AL3 Standard License Agreement. Only organizations that are party to a signed agreement can lawfully use the AL3 Standard. Please contact memberservices@acord.org with any questions.


AL3 Hierarchies Online Application

The AL3 Hierarchies Online application enables users of the AL3 Standards to generate hierarchy diagrams for AL3 transactions. With this application, users can create hierarchies in a dynamic digital format, customized to their business needs and preferences. Diagrams can be downloaded as PDF files.

P&C XML Transaction Specifications

Transaction specifications represent a potential method to use a specified message model that satisfies the data requirements needed to perform a business process. They define the message(s) for providing the data to execute a process/step/task.

P&C Implementation Guides & Supplements

The following guides and supplements have been developed to provide best practices for supporting interoperability between trading partners.
