ACORD Solutions Group has published a new publicly available case study featuring The Cincinnati Insurance Companies, highlighting how the insurer improved digital data extraction capabilities and data quality through its implementation of the intelligent document processing solution, ACORD Transcriber.
Since adopting ACORD Transcriber in 2021, Cincinnati has deployed the solution across multiple business areas, including Sales, Claims, Commercial Lines, and Cincinnati Specialty Underwriters. The AI-driven technology uses machine learning and large language models to extract and structure data from any insurance document —whether it’s a scanned paper form, a fillable PDF, or fully digital eForm — enabling more seamless integration with downstream systems without the need for manual rekeying.
"We’re no longer just moving data around, but spending more time focused on underwriting and claims," said Frank Neugebauer, Vice President & Generative AI Director at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies.
Cincinnati achieved approximately 90% time savings in data entry for ACORD Forms, reduced AI platform development time for ACORD Forms processing by approximately 90%, and lowered form maintenance and compliance costs to nearly zero.
The case study explores the operational challenges the company addressed by adopting ACORD Transcriber, including labor-intensive manual data entry, the risk of transcription errors, and the ongoing effort required to maintain thousands of evolving insurance forms. With ACORD Transcriber, Cincinnati was able to automate data extraction while maintaining alignment with ACORD Standards for optimal data quality and utility.
Looking ahead, Cincinnati sees continued industry demand for greater digitalization and standards-based data exchange, particularly in the Property & Casualty market where manual processes remain common. The case study notes that advances in generative AI and structured data will further support underwriters and claims professionals by allowing them to focus more on expertise-driven and customer-facing work.
