For many years, ACORD has participated
on association committees and with other standards organizations
around the world in order to stay abreast of the developments
and issues related to data sharing. In 1996, when ACORD
took over the life insurance standards, the interest in
ACORD activities grew and it's membership base began to
evolve to reflect that global interest and implementation.
In 2001, when Reinsurance and Large Commercial standards
were added to ACORD, its role evolved even more to that
of a global insurance standards organization with a world-wide
membership base.
