Global e-commerce is difficult to conduct without standards that can jump borders and platforms and operate in real-time. This is the reason that interest in ACORD standards is on the rise in the Asia Pacific region. Several European and North American ACORD members have ACORD standards-based applications in their Asia-Pacific operations. In addition, ACORD is pleased to have several new Japan and China based members that provide solutions for regional insurers.
The following links will take you to specific regional information about ACORD activities. We've provided information from both strategic and tactical perspectives about the industry need and drive to participate in and adopt ACORD's global standards.

Singapore
Singapore is positioning itself as the "Insurance hub" for the Asia Pacific region
and the market is looking at technology to provide services and support to their
distribution and customers, as well as establish cost-effective back office systems.
Regional interest in standards is high because they are solution provider and
technology neutral and offer flexible options -- a particularly attractive feature
in a market wherea very common source of accessing information is via a cell
phone or PDA.
