The Australia insurance market has been speaking about implementing standards for quite a while, and beginning in July of 2008, ACORD has made numerous trips to meet with various organizations to get a feel for the environment. After these visits, it was mutually agreed that there was, indeed a need for ACORD Standards in this market for various lines of business. The scope of this working group is to provide a framework, architecture and message design philosophy that meets the needs of the Australian Business Market, but also meets ACORD NDR rules.

Certificate Forms

The objective of this group will be to review the ACORD certificate forms to see that they meet industry needs, are formatted for automation ease, and are filed in applicable states. There are five certificate forms for review:

  • ACORD 23, Leased Auto Certificate of Insurance
  • ACORD 24, Certificate of Property Insurance
  • ACORD 25, Certificate of Liability Insurance
  • ACORD 27, Evidence of Property Insurance
  • ACORD 28, Evidence of Commercial Property Insurance

Note: The ACORD 28 is priority #1 amongst this group as related to MR-06-2-7459. Once the review and enhancements to the ACORD 28 are concluded, the group will determine prioritization of the remaining forms. It is anticipated the ACORD 27 will follow the ACORD 28 because of their similarity and the business case of MR-06-2-7459.

    This group facilitates the open discussion of Forms Maintenance Requests that have been submitted. It does not replace the MR Review Standing Working Group; rather, it acts as a buffer for preparation prior to that review. This group also reviews pending regulatory changes rooted in forms development or related enhancements.

      This group will work to provide assistance to those looking to implement ACORD standards through the development of implementation guides that focus on the workflow, not the standard. They will also assist carriers in seeing the "big picture" regarding implementation and real time.

    This group provides a forum for the ongoing review of maintenance request submissions coming from the members and standards participants and provides recommendations and guidance on how to best address expressed business, technical, and implementation requirements. The group does not have any special veto or voting prerogative; however the groups' comments or recommendations regarding MRs will be noted on the MR reports along with corresponding comments (if provided) by the MR author(s) and such content is included in the voting ballot materials.

Producer Licensing and Appointment Process and Data Requirements

Building on their successful delivery of a new suite of forms for PCS Producer Appointments (appointing a person) as well as the related XML, the group is now working to: 

  • Document the P&C Producer Licensing and Appointment process from the perspectives of producers, insurers and solution providers.
  • Document the P&C Producer Licensing and Appointment data requirements, by state and jurisdiction from the perspectives of producers, insurers and solution providers.
  • Evaluate existing ACORD forms and models relating to these processes.
  • Identify existing standards to be adopted and new standards to be developed which will lead to a proposal to extend the working group.
  • Author any necessary maintenance requests to existing standards or requests for new messages or forms.

Surety

    The Surety Working Group has been active for several years developing the Surety Section of the ACORD P&C/Surety XML Business Message Standard. With the development of the ACORD Messaging Library Standard the Surety Working Group will focus on ongoing implementation growth and, where needed, provide documentation to assist implementers. They will also monitor and participate in the AML efforts with respect to Surety as well as focus on communication and education on the implementation of surety repository and implementation.
