See Proposal

This working group is intended to support the ACORD Standards Committee (ASC) decision to pursue a unified messaging direction - the ACORD Messaging Library. The objective of the group is to provide a Standards Roadmap to address immediate implementation challenges and XML usage including:

  • Inconsistent use of messages due to "conceptual" definitions.
  • Independent "sub-transactions" that support business needs.
  • Granularity of message definitions that limits reuse.
  • Redundant message definitions between lines of business requiring additional resources.
  • W3C extension of XML specifications.
  • New hardware and software solutions that improve XML performance.
  • Use of XML with internal processing as well as external data exchange.

This direction will carefully architect a broader and stronger business messaging to meet today's needs while preparing for the future by bringing the business messaging together into a coherent library to support the industry.
