ACORD certifies member
implementations, ensuring that ACORD standards are implemented
accurately and meet the specification. ACORD certification
shows that your organization implemented the ACORD data standards,
met the technical requirements, and reported those achievements
to ACORD. Only ACORD members are eligible for certification.
Members achieving ACORD certification receive:
- An ACORD certification that can be published in
any member materials (i.e., collateral materials, websites).
- Eligibility for ACORD Awards that are presented during
the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum each year. Winners
are publicly honored and listed on the ACORD Web site.
- The business benefits of increased data sharing such
as Web services.
- A competitive edge in terms of communication capabilities,
cost savings, data quality and transparency, and increased
efficiency.
ACORD certification ensures your customers,
members, carriers, distributors, and trading partners can
be sure that your applications follow ACORD Standards.

Pre-Testing
XML Certifications
ACORD verifies all XML data streams that are submitted
to us using the schema that accompanies the standard (a
DTD is employed if no schema exists). Even though you may
or may not use the schema or DTD on your production system,
this is part of our certification process to validate the
data stream. By using the schema we get better data type
and format validation as well as validation of the proper
code values being used. We use the same schema or DTD that
is included with every release of our standard.
After an XML data stream passes the schema
or DTD validation step, we manually check the data to
check on those items that are beyond the capabilities
of schema or DTD. This may involve something as simple
as the text in a name field or something more sophisticated,
such as the coding in one tag as related to another.
ACORD XML Schema Validation Configuration
(ACORD Assistance)
If you have not yet checked your data stream(s) against
the ACORD schema, we strongly suggest you do so as it will
provide insight regarding the feedback you will be receiving
from us as we proceed with certification. If you are interested
in doing data quality testing as described here and would
like assistance in getting set-up to do so, please do the
following:
- Send an email to Certifications@acord.org
- Identify the applicable ACORD Standard
- Indicate you are requesting assistance with XML schema
validation configuration
To obtain more information regarding certification
or to have your data certified, please send an email to Certifications@acord.org or
phone Geri Prescott at +1 845-620-1700 ext. 463.
